The horizon report is an annual look at emerging technologies that are impacting education. I find it a useful resource for understanding how science and science education are shifting.

This will be interesting to track. A joint call for proposals from NSF and NIH. From the call, "BIGDATA seeks proposals that develop and evaluate core technologies and tools that take advantage of available collections of large data sets to accelerate progress in science, biomedical research, and engineering."

This talk addresses a wide range of issues in computer science education. The primary argument is that there are a set of skills that transcend the discipline and should be part of everyones skill set. I see lots of parallels with data literacy.  Presented by Mark Guzdial, a professor in the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Institute of Technology.

President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) recommends changing the culture of undergraduate science education.
